Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Pacific Range Countertop collects through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We have kept it in plain language — if anything here is unclear, call or email us and we will explain it.

Who we are

Pacific Range Countertop Ltd., trading as Pacific Range Countertop, operates this website and is the organization responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

Our studio is at 1705 Welch St, North Vancouver, BC V7P 3H2, Canada. You can reach us by email at contact@pacificrangecountertop.com or by phone at (236) 885-6461.

We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Where you live somewhere with stronger rights, we honour those too — see "Your rights and choices" below.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to answer your enquiry and to keep the website working well. We do not buy personal information from data brokers, and we do not sell yours.

  • Information you give us — when you submit the quote form: your name, email address, phone number, the project details you describe (such as project type and approximate size), and anything else you choose to include in your message.
  • Information collected automatically — when you browse the site: your IP address (truncated by our analytics provider), browser and device type, approximate region, the pages you view, the site or search that referred you, and the time and length of your visit.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — small files stored by your browser. See the cookies section below.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

We use the information above to respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote, to schedule templating and installation if you go ahead, to provide and improve the website, to keep it secure and detect abuse, and to comply with our legal, tax, and record-keeping obligations.

Under PIPEDA and BC PIPA we rely on your consent — express when you submit the form, implied when you browse — and, where the law allows, on purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances, such as securing our own website.

Where a law that requires a named legal basis applies to you (for example the UK or EU GDPR, if you contact us from there), we rely on: your consent for non-essential cookies and any marketing message; our legitimate interest in running and securing our website and in replying to enquiries; the steps necessary to enter into a contract when you ask us for a quote; and our legal obligations for record-keeping.

We do not make decisions about you by automated means alone, and we do not profile you for automated decision-making.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We run a Google Ads tag on this website, but only to measure which of our ads lead to enquiries — it is configured not to send advertising-personalisation signals, so it does not build advertising profiles about you and we do not use it to follow you around the web with our ads. We share your information only with the service providers who help us run this website and our business, each of which is contractually limited to processing it on our instructions:

  • Craftify AI, which hosts this website and provides the embedded quote form that delivers your enquiry to our inbox.
  • Google LLC, which provides Google Analytics 4 (aggregate website usage reporting), Google Ads (advertising measurement only), and the embedded Google Map on our contact page.
  • Our email provider, which carries our reply to you.
  • Trades and suppliers we bring onto your project — for example a templating or installation crew — and only the details they need to do the work.
  • Professional advisers, and government or law-enforcement bodies, where we are legally required or permitted to disclose information.

Where your information is processed

Some of our service providers store and process information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States. While your information is in another country it may be accessible to the courts, law enforcement, and national security authorities of that country under its laws.

We disclose this because Canadian privacy law requires it. Where information leaves a region with transfer restrictions (such as Canada, the UK, or the EEA), we rely on our providers' approved safeguards — typically the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision — and we take reasonable steps to confirm the information receives comparable protection.

Cookies and advertising

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Strictly necessary cookies keep the site working and are always set. Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics 4 — help us understand which pages are useful; they are set only where permitted, and where consent is legally required, only after you give it.

Advertising cookies are set by Google Ads. If you arrive here from one of our ads, the tag records the click so we can tell which ads actually lead to enquiries — for example, whether you went on to call us. That is all we use it for: the tag is configured without advertising-personalisation signals, so it does not build an advertising profile of you and we do not run remarketing. It does not tell us who you are, and we do not upload your contact details to Google. Like analytics cookies, these are set only where permitted, and where consent is legally required, only after you give it.

The embedded Google Map on our contact page, and the embedded quote form, are loaded from third parties and may set their own cookies when you interact with them.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site working. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using Google's browser opt-out add-on, and you can turn off personalised Google advertising in Google's own Ads Settings.

This site respects the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where your browser sends one.

How long we keep it

We keep quote and enquiry details for 24 months from our last contact with you, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. Where we go on to do work for you, we keep the project file for seven years after the work is complete, so we can honour warranty questions and meet Canadian tax and record-keeping requirements.

Analytics data is kept in aggregate form according to our analytics provider's retention setting. When a retention period ends, we delete the information or irreversibly anonymize it.

Your rights and choices

Under PIPEDA and BC PIPA you can ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong or incomplete, ask us how it has been used and who it has been disclosed to, and withdraw your consent to our using it. You can also ask us to stop contacting you at any time.

Depending on where you live you may have additional rights — for example to erasure, data portability, to object to processing, to appeal a refused request, or to be free from discrimination for exercising a privacy right. We honour all of these regardless of where you live.

To exercise any right, email contact@pacificrangecountertop.com or write to us at the address above. We will respond within 30 days, as PIPEDA requires, and sooner where your local law sets a shorter deadline. We may need to verify your identity before acting, and we will only ask for what is necessary to do that.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca), or — for a matter under BC PIPA — to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (oipc.bc.ca). If you live elsewhere, you can complain to your local privacy regulator.

Children

This website is intended for adults arranging work on a home or a commercial space, and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.

How we protect it

The site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and we limit access to enquiry details to the people who need them to reply to you or do the work. Our service providers are chosen for their security practices and are bound to protect the information they process for us.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your information in a way that creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as PIPEDA requires.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will make that clear on this page.
